I have climbed the challenging terrain of Mount Washington several times, including my first Washburn Double Climb in 2009, and in 2010 as a member of the inaugural Presidential Range Traverse team. I am so pleased to be back again this year to take on the 11 peaks of the Presidential Range in support of the Museum of Science. As the husband of a former science teacher dedicated to initiatives that encourage children, and as a businessperson who works with entrepreneurs focused on scientific discovery and technological development, I personally support the Museum's local and national programs for the young and the young at heart. Thank you for supporting me in this endeavor.

I am excited to be a part of the Washburn Climb team for the second year in a row! I am a frequent hiker in the White Mountains and have often visited Mount Washington and enjoyed the gorgeous landscape. I am a lifelong science enthusiast, involved in the technology industry, and I recognize what a fundamental role the Museum performs in cultivating a love of science and technology in children — not to mention that my two girls call the Museum home! As a longtime patron of the Museum and a member of the board of overseers, I am strongly committed to the Museum's mission to advance science education and awareness. By taking part in this challenging event, I strive to contribute to the continuation of that great work. I hope that you will support me as I once again climb to the summit of 6,282 feet.

2012 will be my sixth Washburn Double Climb, a fundraising event I created in memory of my late dad, who loved science and engineering, and who loved the Museum. In each of the past five years, I have combined science with adventure, trying to assess the geology of Mount Washington while also climbing it twice in one day. This year, I hope to estimate the thickness of ice that once covered all of New England, including Mount Washington, and I also hope to best my record time of 13 hours and 40 minutes for the Double Climb.
