Out-of-school Funded Trips to the Museum

Booking is fast and convenient!

Call 617-723-2500 or TTY 617-589-0417, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., daily.
Please have the following ready when you call:

  • Contact information
  • Tax ID number
  • Date and time of your visit

You will be mailed a pending confirmation notice first (call back only if any information is incorrect). Your approval notice with specific funding and balance due, if applicable, will be sent approximately two weeks after you book the reservation.

A group is eligible for funding if their organization meets all of the following criteria:

  • Group has 15 people or more
  • Has non-profit status with tax-exempt number
  • Meets during out-of-school time and works with under-represented youth or adults (i.e. after school, ESL, or faith-based programs, or shelters)
  • Finds the admission cost a barrier to visiting the Museum of Science.

Please note that:

  • Your group must have at least one chaperone for every ten people under the age of 18.
  • Free Exhibit Halls admission does not include extra venues such as Omni films, Butterfly Garden, 3-D Digital Cinema, or Planetarium shows. If you are interested in these add-ons, let us know at time of reservation, as funding is sometimes available. If there is no funding available, a rate of $6.00 - 8.00 per person will be charged for the first extra, and $3.50 - 4.50 per person for each additional show.
  • Reservations must be made at least three weeks in advance.
  • After you reserve, you will receive a pending confirmation notice (call back only if any information is incorrect). Approximately two weeks later, your approval notice will be mailed with specific funding and balance due, if any.

Additional guidelines:

  • Reserve school year trips starting August 15, and summer trips starting April 15. Remember, they are subject to availability of funding.
  • Eligible groups receive up to 80 free Exhibit Halls admissions per school year, subject to availability of funding.
  • There is a limited number of reservations available for vacation weeks and holidays.

Additional discount opportunities:

  • Agencies with fewer than 15 people in their group that are unable to schedule a trip in advance and meet the above criteria can contact youth and community programs to request a pass form (DOC).
  • Most local public libraries offer free or discounted Museum passes for families and individuals.

Please contact youth and community programs if you have any comments or questions: 617 589-0418, 617-589-0417 (TTY), mcabrera@mos.org, or communityrelations@mos.org.
