A Day in Pompeii Field Trip Planning
October 8, 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Come learn about various earth science topics that relate to the famous volcanic eruption that took place in Pompeii almost 2,000 years ago. Following a mini-lesson on inquiry science, participants will visit this temporary exhibit and interact with Exhibit Halls interpreters teaching in the exhibition space. Teachers will strengthen their understanding of how archaeologists work out in the field, with a focus on collecting and analyzing data from primary sources.
A discussion on planning effective fields trips will take a look at how to connect A Day in Pompeii and other exhibit spaces to curriculum content. Our staff will also provide an overview of the Educator Resource Center services and programs, emphasizing support for teachers as learners.
